Most of the miles on run4luv are walked, not run. Morning loops with the dog. Lunch breaks around the office park. Evening strolls with a friend on the phone. If you have been looking for a walking challenge that is about more than a step count, this is it: every walk you take is dedicated to someone you love.
How a walking pledge works
Create a pledge with the first name of the person you are walking for, set a mile goal — 25, 50, 100 — and write a message. Then walk. Log each walk in a few seconds, or connect Apple Health in the iPhone app and your walking workouts sync automatically. Prefer Strava? Connect it on the web or in the app and new walks flow in on their own. Watch the progress bar fill with their name on it. Read the full how it works guide for the details.
Why walk for someone
Walking is the movement most of us can actually keep doing — after surgery, with a stroller, at seventy, in the middle of a stressful week. And because it is unhurried, it leaves room to think. A walk dedicated to a friend in treatment becomes twenty minutes of thinking about them. A walk in memory of a parent becomes a quiet conversation. People tell us the pledge is what got them out the door on the days they would have skipped.
There is no fundraising and nothing to sell. A walking pledge is a dedication: your steps, your time, your attention, given to someone who could use the encouragement.
Walking challenge ideas
- A mile a day for 30 days for a friend recovering from surgery.
- 100 miles this season in memory of someone you lost — see running in memory of a loved one.
- A team walk — family, coworkers, or a neighborhood group pooling miles toward one goal for someone fighting an illness.
- A walk you invite them on — a pledge for a friend who is struggling, and a standing offer to walk together, no pace, no pressure.
- A streak — walk something, anything, every day, and let run4luv count the days.
Walkers are the community

Common questions
Do walks really count the same as runs?
Yes. A mile is a mile on run4luv. Walks, hikes, treadmill sessions, and stroller laps all count toward your pledge exactly like a run.
Can I sync my walks automatically?
Yes. In the iPhone app, connect Apple Health and your walking workouts sync on their own — including walks recorded by an Apple Watch or other apps that write to Health. You can also connect Strava on the web or in the app.
Do I need to walk a certain distance or pace?
No. There is no minimum distance and no pace requirement. Log a quarter mile around the block or a ten-mile hike. Every step goes toward your goal.
Is this a charity walk or fundraiser?
No. run4luv is not a fundraising platform and no money is collected. It is a dedication: your miles, offered to someone you love.
Can my family or workplace do a walking challenge together?
Yes. Create a team, invite people, and everyone's walks pool toward one shared mile goal, with a private message thread inside the app.
